We keep a daylight hall and a blackout room at Strada Armenească 15, shoot on location across Chișinău, and return stills selects in four working days.

The call time follows the back wall

In this hall the sun reaches the back plaster after lunch. In June the patch is small and hard. In November it is low and gone before the end of the working day. We set the call from that wall, and we add lamps only where the wall stops being useful.

A day on Armenească

  1. Recce

We walk the room the day before, or at the same hour we plan to shoot. On a street job we stand there and watch what the linden does. In the hall we look at the back wall. If you need a van, we open the gate and check the turn in from Armenească.

A recce inside Chișinău is included once the shoot is confirmed.

  2. Stills

Tethered, in the order of the shot list you approved. You watch a clean frame. The colour happens later, upstairs. The sweep, the flag, and the window are decided at the recce, and we move them when the patch on the back wall has moved.

  3. Film

Booked the same day, the set stays. Takes stay short. One camera. Dialogue and room tone are recorded in the blackout room. The courtyard after 16:30 belongs to the street, and a voice will not sit cleanly against it.

  4. Finish

The drive stays in the studio. Selects in four working days, the full stills set in nine, an assembly in twelve, a graded film in sixteen. Working days are Monday to Friday, and a public holiday in Moldova shifts the date.

You get a private link. A drive can be collected from the desk on Armenească.

Stills, film, finishing

Stills

A hall day is 7 400 MDL, up to eight hours. Location inside Chișinău is 8 150 MDL. Files are named from the shot list, full size and a web size. Colour follows the room we shot.

Selects leave in four working days. The full set leaves in nine. The licence is written on the invoice: where the pictures may go, and for how long.

Film

A hall film day is 11 600 MDL. Stills and film on the same day are 16 450 MDL, because the set stays standing. One camera. Shots are listed before the call.

An assembly is ready in twelve working days, the graded master in sixteen. Dialogue is recorded in the blackout room. Ștefan cel Mare at 17:00 is a picture, and a poor place for a voice.

Finishing

Bring a card or a drive from a shoot that already has a plan. A piece under two minutes starts at 6 280 MDL and includes one grade pass. A further pass is 740 MDL.

On the first look we say if the exposure can be carried. The grade is not a second shoot. The monitor stays three steps up from the hall, and the files leave from there.
